{"url":"https://treescape.app/api/species/desmodium-uncinatum/?format=json","slug":"desmodium-uncinatum","latin_name":"Desmodium uncinatum","description":"Desmodium uncinatum, the silverleaf desmodium, is a species of flowering plant in the family Fabaceae, native to Latin America, and introduced as a fodder to various locales in Africa, India, New Guinea, Australia and Hawaii. Although chiefly a fodder, it can also be used for pasture, deferred feed, cut-and-carry, hay, ground cover, and mulch. It is considered invasive in Australia and Hawaii.\nThis species of Desmodium has also found use in the push-pull technology for pest management where it is grown as an intercrop between rows of a cereal crop to control stem-boring insects and fall armyworms. Together with D. intortum (greenleaf desmodium) they are the most common two intercrops of push-pull technology.","gbif_id":2967319,"image_thumbnail":"https://treescape.app/media/plant_species/images/thumbnails/desmodium-uncinatum_thumbnail_8oV6zQK.jpg","image_large":"https://treescape.app/media/plant_species/images/large/desmodium-uncinatum_thumbnail_yQHNA4c.jpg","properties":{"height_maximum":null,"height_confidence":null,"height_source":null,"width_minimum":null,"width_typical":null,"width_maximum":null,"width_confidence":null,"width_source":null,"soil_acidity_minimum":null,"soil_acidity_typical":null,"soil_acidity_maximum":null,"soil_acidity_confidence":null,"soil_acidity_source":null,"climate_zones":[],"growth_habits":["https://treescape.app/api/growthhabits/herb/?format=json"],"human_uses":["https://treescape.app/api/humanuses/animal-fodder/?format=json"],"ecological_roles":["https://treescape.app/api/ecologicalroles/pest-and-disease-control/?format=json"],"soil_preferences":[],"propagation_methods":[]}}
